TIMELINE (September 2021 - December 2023)

The project is planned for completion within 6 months but it was postponed due to COVID-19 pandemic and the subsequent lockdowns, schools have shifted to online classes, their focus wasn’t on fundraising.

Problem Space

Since 2015, ONEcharity Fundraising programme has successfully launched 9 charity events helping 76 schools in 9 states with sponsorships from various sectors.

We now aim to transition to an online donation app. Why invest in dinners when our primary goal is to encourage people to donate? By reducing expenses and embracing an online approach, we can efficiently reach our fundraising objectives.

My Responsibilities

I am responsible for leading UX and UI across key parts of the mobile application, admin portal, project owner portal and user manual.

  • Create a user-friendly multi-lingual mobile app, admin and project owner portal (English language only) for schools to raise funds for educational projects.
  • Create design guidelines and specifications to provide clear direction for development.
  • Develop a visually appealing user interface (UI) design that aligns with the brand identity and resonates with the target audience.
  • Implement feedback mechanisms, such as surveys or in-app feedback forms, to collect user input for continuous improvement.

Challenges

01

Information Overload
Presenting a large amount of information, such as project details, progress, and reports, can lead to information overload.

02

Security & Privacy
Security and privacy concerns are paramount, particularly for the admin portal dealing with sensitive data.

03

Consistency & Branding
Maintaining consistency between the mobile app and admin portal while adhering to branding guidelines can be challenging.

Solutions

01

Implement Information Hierarchy
By organizing content logically and using clear typography and visual cues. Use progressive disclosure to present information gradually.

02

Design With Security In Mind
Anonymous donor remain as anonymous when project owner export school’s fundraising report in CSV format.

03

Create A Design System
Includes a style guide with brand elements, fonts, colors, and UI components to ensure visual consistency across both platforms.

ONEcharity Project Owner Portal

  • I’ve grown tremendously in working on this project, some key achievements of which I have listed below:
  • Implemented a design process. This has helped our team establish more structure to how we conduct our work and allow other teams to gain visibility across our upcoming sprints.
  • Improved usability across the platform. Since we established a design team, we have been actively working towards conducting UX research and usability testing on all projects.
  • Establishing a design kit and design system. This has helped to maintain consistency in the look and feel across different parts of the platform. This has also helped the Engineering and Product teams to understand how and why we choose to implement certain components over others.

Thank you!

That’s it from my side. I appreciate you finding time to go through this short case study!
I’m open for new projects, so don’t hesitate to reach me out at gladysdesignspirit@gmail.com
